I still have a VW T4 coachbuilt camper. All my one tonne vans for my business were VW’s from the original split to a T25 when I closed down.
Although a lot of the replacement bits are not as well made as the originals, there are still some well made ones. Keep it going guy’s.

Its great to see someone can carry and keep the bug cult alive.

Unfortunately I have scrapped more beetles then I care to remember. The last one I gave away after spending almost £2600 on engine rebuild and body parts.
But living in London has its space issues and having done my back in the other half called the scrap guys and gave it away.
Another time I had two beetles and enough gear to build another one at a friends garage.
His wife decided to clean the garage and guess what- all scrapped. I was devastated. But
then that’s my bad luck.
would like to meet up with you sometime.
I still think the air cooled beetle was and is the best car ever.
Raced a Porche up the M1 to Leeds, in the old days (no Cameras) with rain and the guy could not believe I had 1200 cc engine in it. He actually sked me to show him the engine at a motorway service stop,

Lots of stories but good to see the tradition being kept alive.
Kerry keep up the good work and enjoy it.

This is one of the best stories I have read and down to earth.
I bought my first Beetle in 1969.
Cost £ 100. ( incidentally a brand new one would set you back £750.)
A basic car with no waterworks, keeps on going as long as you hv juice in it.
In my books the best car ever.

He pointed me in the right direction and gave me tons of great advice. Including only buy a bus from California….which I did. We used to go to shows together (peppercorn was our favourite). And we used to hang out at the Ace Cafe on the north circular. He sold me one of his beetles and I think it’s the white one in the article! I sold it after on to a neighbour who had it restored and it is stunning!
We lost touch when he moved to Norfolk so please send him my email address and my best regards for a catch up.
The article was a great read and the photos look superb.
Tell Chris I like the deep dish wheels he’s put on his bus. Really Sets it off well.
